The Tree Gate Story
Visiting my workshop one of my clients saw the Moon Gate and said: “I want one. You design it and I’ll find a place on our land for it.” I envisioned a gate with three arches. After showing her the sketch, she led me to a place between two trees with branches gracefully arching over one another. The concept fit perfectly—the Tree Gate was born.
Using the proportions of my client—height, arm span, etc.—I calculated the dimensions of the arch. The brass hands that join the center arch are patterned from hers.
The arches and “eye” elements are laminated Western Red Cedar. The base is made from juniper, a rot resistant wood. All the wood is treated with a water base stain and sealer.
